om603 no throttle response fixed ..but how?
So i was lucky to get my hands on a 1987 300D in really not bad condition for 500 bucks! All I had to do to it the first day was change tranny oil and filter and it was running nice. Did not know anything about mercedes diesels at that time. Later on it lost power. Figured out it was alda vacuum so got that fixed. A few days ago I decided i had to fix a small leak of oil from lift pump.... Fixed it and lost all sorts of throttle response. I would step on it and nothing happens at least not for 10 seconds. Felt like fuel starvation so I spent 2 days reading about the pump and how it operates and tried all sorts of fixes. Yesterday i took off the side cover of the IP where the rack is. it seemed to move but not much. Here is what i did. I pushed up the stop lever and while holding it up pushed the accelerator. Now that really is what the movement should be when you are driving right ? well after i did this car started acting better than ever. throttle response is better than on my corrado ! Any ideas what happened so i can avoid it in the future ? I am guessing shut off valve had something to do with all this.

Odd that this happened but the rack could have been bound up internally some where. Fingers could have come off, who knows. Atleast its fixed!
