300TD Autocross action!
I wasn't setting any records today but I think I wasn't the slowest out there. My first autocross and it went great in my wagon. Best time 68.8xx. I was only a couple seconds behind G35s and the like!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D68lcz3IIMI&feature=youtube_gdata_player https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kAzRn650H8&feature=youtube_gdata_player https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGVHv55CyOs&feature=youtube_gdata_player Those were my 2nd, 3rd and 4th runs. Camera difficulties caused me to not have video of 1 and 5. I dnf'd the 2nd by cutting the course, 3rd was clean and 4th was my fastest of the day. 5th run I got squirrely right before the finish which killed that time. All in all, I think I did great in the car I brought. In future events, I think I will be codriving with my buddy in his 250hp Jetta TDI!

Nice! Where in Houston was this autocross held? MBCA | Houston is currently seeking a new autocross spot to hold its autocrosses.

Thanks guys. This event was held at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown. Quite a drive but the grounds are excellent and wide open. Last months event was help at Houston Police Academy up near Bush IAH.

I would have such trouble with the following the course correctly. Watching those videos im wondering how in the hell he (the guy talking, course official?) remembers where and what direction to take

Some sweet photos.
JB3, your concern is a real one but not too tough of one to overcome. My first run I hit all the gates correctly. Second run I went too tight and missed a gate. No biggie, since you get 3-5 runs to improve. Plus, on your first day out, it's a great idea to have an instructor ride along with you. I did and it helped tremendously!
