Pick and Pull 50% off this weekend

I didnt see this posted yet, so I thought id mention it. Has anyone seen anything interesting lately?

I saw this today:

Row52 | 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190

Its pretty beat, but it is a 5 speed with a Lorinser body kit. I have seen it around town for a couple years, it may have been nice at one time but some ghetto people bought it and trashed it.

Im looking for some bosch euro lights for a w126 if anyone sees any (unlikely I know, but doesnt hurt to ask).

Thanks, I am about an hour from there but I will probably go check it out sunday. It would be nice if they are still there and they are good bosch ones rather than the depo junk lol, just have to see I guess.

There is a euro 500sel in rocklin, no euro lights but it has good bumpers and manual climate control.

I just went to PickNPull today. You must be a Toolkit member for 50% off (I am). There are three 82-85 300D's at the Rancho Cordova lot. The 82 was missing the whole front. I pulled the front bumper from an 83 since I have a broken bumper bracket and didn't see a way to remove just the bracket. I also got a climate switch and a few other parts. I also went to the Antelope lot for a 66 Newport. No 300D's like mine there. There were a lot of gas M-B w/ Jetronic. I didn't know the headlights interchange. I'll look for Euro lights next time. I did see real nice seats (light tan) in a ~87 gasser (Antelope, I recall). I was thinking about it, having spent too much time rebuilding the driver's seat in my 85, but was afraid of the electric motor (needs panel switch?, no way to test motor) and if it would fit. Sorry to be competing with you for parts in Sacramento, but unlike the past it is getting easy to find these M-B's in junkyards today and a shame to crush good parts.

Bill, take a Drill motor battery in with you to move the seats and to test other electrical devices.

I use a Makita 14.4V and the test leads from a HF Digital Multi Meter. I cut off the ends, and soldered on some flat spades to match the battery.
Use it to test Blowers, check window motors or to move the Regulator to remove the window etc....

Might take years to trip over bosch's at a yard, that's rare.

OTOH the depos for the W126 are actually pretty darn good, I ended up with an extra set I'm looking to sell. The pair on my SDL are far better than stock dot and have only read not quite as great as bosch. Haven't been in a 126 with bosch lights to confirm.

Good advice, I do the same. Easy and saves on return trips for non-working parts.

Love the improvised jack-stands....

Just how stable is a car sitting on rims supported by a wheels on their sides?

I have seen a few sets of bosch lights in the yard, but someone usually takes just the glass if its not cracked and leaves the rest, so they are either missing the glass lenses or have broken lenses. I have a set of depo lights already, but they are noticeably worse than the H4 hellas that replace the stock sealed beams.

Good eye, those were in fact real bosch lights, and I bought them. Unfortunately, they are too tempting for people walking by to smash the lenses so only one of them has a usable lense. They were only $45 though, so if I can find a replacement lense for less than $100 it was still a good deal, or I can use one lens from the depo lights I have until I find a proper bosch one.

crashing cars & euro lenses

I purchased a new Bosch Euro lens off of ebay for around 50.00 last year.

I have personally witnessed a car crashing to the ground at PNP.
Two cars down from me the welded wheel support broke through
the trunk of a car. If someone had been under that car they
could have been killed. Plastic trunk?

I still get under cars to look around and get stuff.
MB are much more stable than some other cars and I really don't worry
about it too much.

cool website. never saw it before. I'm out east and can't come out and play though.

Wish somebody were near the Sherwood, Oregon site, where there's a W124 wagon shown. I need a working radio antenna and also the wiring pigtail.

Thx -CTH

Looks like I'll be going to run to the FF yard on Monday... my buddy had a 190D 2.5T that somebody did a 5 spd swap on and they used the wrong grade bolts on the drive shaft. Bolts came loose or something and since they were spinning on the drive shaft the bolt broke the tail shaft housing. Hopefully that 5spd is still there so we can get his 190 back up and running!

I was in the Mowery yard couple years back, and there was this Japanese car with the back end sitting on the ground. Don`t remember the make, but the spare tire well gave away. seems it is a separate piece stamped out and sits in the hole with a lip that is glued on. with the weight of the vehicle and only the glue holding it, it let go and dropped. I didn`t see this one cut loose though.

We don`t have to worry about that problem with our MB`s, but you still have to make sure they are secure before going under.

The Jack Stands are two steel wheels welded together. one flat, and one standing up. for the most part seem to be secure. I have never had one tip or slip off........yet

One thing you do have to watch out for, is the Fork Lift Jockys when they are carrying cars from one place to another. I saw one (again in the Mowery yard) with a Cadillac flying down the road and made a fast turn and the car came off the forks and rolled a few times.

Another time was in the south SJ yard, the guy was coming from the back with a Chrysler La Barron. (they were setting a new road0 and heard this crash bang and saw the car as it hit the concrete and roll a couple times.

There are people walking around focused on what they are looking for, and these guys are being irresponsible.

There was a car that did get knocked off the stands with a guy under it by one of the bozoos moving another car and bumped the one that fell. don`t remember if the guy got hurt bad or not, but they eliminated one car from the ends of each row on that side.
