Engine hoist to rent/borrow near Chelmsford, MA (01824)

I'll need a hoist in the next couple weeks (I hope!). Is there anyone in the nearby area who can borrow or rent me one? I can pay in parts .

Come on over and borrow mine, a ways to drive though.

Look on your local CL, I see a couple guys listing one for rent in our area every once in a while.

I picked up a used (almost new) HF eng Hoist for $65. The price I see for the majority of the used ones, they must be Gold Plated.

Thank you! However, we actually live on the other end of MA, on the NH border and about 45-50 miles from the MA coast and 35 minutes NW of Boston. Brooklyn is quite a drive .

if you are up for a drive to providence, you can borrow my folding one. Should fit in a station wagon laid on its back. Let me know if so, Im not using it at the moment.

I think Brooklyn would be closer than borrowing Charlie's.

Iam not familiar with your neck of the woods, I just looked up the state of Maine and went from there.

50 mile is far? the majority of the PNP`s are 40 - 50 miles I go to from here.

You could drop Maine into the Dallas Ft. Worth area of Texas and loose it.

I would rather own a tool than rent it. Owning it then I can work at my leisure. If I rent one, then I can`t procrastinate.

So far I have acquired 2 Hoists and have both in use.

The thing I have noticed with these Hoists, is the small steel wheels they put on these things, makes it difficult to move them around once the engine is on them. so if you have any type of roughness to the surface it is on, it will be difficult to move.

About 99% of the one`s out there are the Chicom built ones like HF sells.

Here is a towable one some where in your area I saw last night. get this one and YOU can rent it out for some cash flow. It is a pricy one, I have seen these for a lot less.

I have their knock-down version with a storage dolly that I kept when I got rid of my rental business. Very nicely made unit, no sharp edges or sloppy welds. Dealer cost in 1991 was $900.

this is much of the reason i ended up buying joe's project package when he included the snap-on box and fold away hoistyou can just see it peeking over the top next to the yellow box, near the headache rack...

I see these come up every once in a while. when it is tipped back up, do they still roll on the rubber tires? sure would make it easer to move around.

There are a couple on CL in our area, but not as nice as this Blue Bird.

Oh, I see. A couple points to clear up:

1) MA stands for Massachusetts, not Maine, which is abbreviated ME.
2)50 Miles actually isn't a long drive -- I was unclear here. This map will show you what I meant. The starting location is our house and the end is Brooklyn. Quite a drive -- 220 miles, I believe. Going east of our place, you will end up at the shore in about 40 miles* (as the crow flies).

That hoist in Hudson Valley is a monster!

I appreciate you looking at listings for me. At this point, I need to go low-cost, as I am on a low budget. That's why I was hoping to borrow/rent one from a fellow member...

I don't know if I've said this before, but your signature is one of the funnier ones on here .
