Prices are area specific for sure. I see entire running parts cars from back east costing what I paid for my engine alone.

Thinking on this a little more.........

The 617 wouldn't be too bad of an idea for a full size truck, either. It's in the same power neighborhood as Chevy's 250 straight six or 6.2L NA diesel. While I wouldn't call a full size truck with either of those engines a powerhouse, I would call them 100% serviceable as long as no one is going to use one to drag a 5th wheel trailer up a mountain pass. Even then, they'd do the job, just slowly. Great for a reasonably economical daily driver or the occasional load of compost and a couple 2x4's.
