'98 E300 fuel injectors with 200k. What are my options?

My '98 E300 Turbo Diesel is going to be rolling 200k soon (hit 193k today). To the best of my knowledge the fuel injectors have never been touched. Could I get away with replacing the nozzles only, or should I send them off to be checked and balanced? The car runs really well and hardly smokes at all under heavy acceleration. There is slight nailing at cold idle that smooths out around 900 rpm (not revving the nuts off a cold engine I mind you). I have the car for sale but I would like to know that the potential buyer is getting a trouble free engine. This is new territory for me. I've never touched diesel injectors on any of my 5 other previously owned diesel Mercs. Any advice would be appreciated. I sifted through some old threads via search and didn't find much. It's a shame we don't have "time between overhaul" like Pratt & Whitney PT6 fuel nozzles!

The inj's should be pop and spray tested; any that can't be corrected to meet spec by installing new shims and cleaning should receive new nozzles too.

Who would you recommend I use for the testing? I'm on east coast, Maryland to be precise. Thanks!

I have just had my '99 injectors rebuilt and pop tested at 180,000 miles.

New Bosh Nozzles cost $21.08 each plus shipping. I figured it would be better to replace rather than clean and test

F/I NOZZLE 95/98 300D
Part Number: 0434250897
Manufacturer: BSH

autoparts-sales . com least expensive I could find.

Just my $0.02: replace the plastic fuel lines before messing with the injectors, if for no other reason than a potential buyer can see the shiny new parts when they lift the hood.

The fuel lines was the tipping for me to sell! After my $200 glow plug job, my wife didn't see the point of throwing another $100 in parts at the car. I'll probably end up doing the lines along with injectors. We drove the car about 500 miles in three days car shopping, it felt so tight that I'm having serious thoughts about keeping the car.

Who do you guys recommend for pop testing? I'm in Maryland.

Have any of you 606 owners used the bosio nozzles?

If the car is running well, why bother? Mine is closing on on 170,000 miles and is running well. I don't plan to do anything with my injectors until I feel I need to. Someone convince me other wise.

I'm pretty sure my 240D still has its original injectors. Have to check my maintenance records to be sure though.

I think you will find that www.kermatdi . com are the official importer and there is no stock or predicted time for stock for the excellent Bosio nozzles

You will have to search a local diesel shop, I got lucky with one 5 miles away.

My glow plugs set me back over $800 at the Indie.

Contact GREAZZER

Contact GREAZZER here on the Fourm, he does Fuel Injectors. lives in SC.
He is recommended by a lot of members here and over on superturbodiesel.com.

I had him do a set for our 240D, really made a difference in the way it runs now.

There is light "nailing" at idle to about 950 rpm. The car runs excellent in my opinion, but I've never driven another E300 turbo. With 200k I imagine that a rebuild would only be beneficial.

I thought the diesel giant had them, I could be very wrong. My plugs cost $200 in parts (plugs, gasket, reamer). $800 for a indie shop to do them seems reasonable to me. It took me 7 hours to work 3 very tight plugs! Gaining access only takes 15 mins.
