I am in the process of cleaning my original Bosch injectors and replacing them with new Monark nozzles. In reading other threads, it seems that if you buy the entire Monark injector, it comes within acceptable ranges and you can stick em in without testing. But most seem to think that if you're only replacing the nozzles, you pretty much have to pop test it and have the necessary shims to adjust the pop pressure. I could just replace them and check, but it feels a little half-assed now that I'm this deep in diagnosis of my rough idle / smoke issues. (valve adjustment, diesel purge, compression test, injector cleaning, nozzle replacement)
What I want to do is build my own - plenty of great examples of home made testers on here. But I'm not sure I can justify it right now. I only own one diesel that's my daily driver, and I literally don't have any room to store the tester. (I've acquired too much stuff as it is!)
So is there anyone nearby with a pop tester who would be willing to help me and my '80 300SD out?
