Prechamber seal rings 617 turbo

Hello, We have just had the cylinder head resurfaced .012 and we are wondering which size of prechamber seal ring we would need to order. I think the stock is 2.0 mm but I am thinking we would need to move up at least 1 size but want to be sure before ordering and reassembly. The car is a 1985 300TD with the 617.952. Thankx

Here is the measurement that determines which sealing ring

This info is from startekinfo.com which is free.

This is the measurement that determines which sealing rings you need.

The Prechamber Seal Rings are made of Aluminum. What ever size ring you pic to get your measurement be sure to measure again after the Retaining Collar is properly Torqued.
The reason is the Aluminum Seal Ring might crush a little.

Hello, Anyone know which way the pre-chamber sealing rings are orientated. The one side looks like there is a slightly thinner portion on the one side. Which side goes towards the head and which side faces the prechamber? Thanks.

What is the specifications for torquing the prechambers on the 617 turbo.....do the prechambers get torqued to to seal the rings in stages or all at once?

A year and 7 months ago this thread slipped away unanswered. I assume you engine is together by now, this will help on future searches.

The FSM does not mention which way the seal ring faces.

Installation.

Note: if the removed pre-chambers are installed
again, check for perfect condition.

Ball pin should not be burnt or scaled.

In addition, if burner tops are scorched or if per-
chamber lower half shows cracks, remove boost air
pipe and check inside for traces of oil.

If oil-moist spots are found, check diaphragm of
vacuum pump on engine 617.950 (USA) up to 1979 for
cracks and other damage or renew vacuum control
unit on injection pump of all engines.

The faulty component is identified by means of the
vacuum lines (blackened by oil)

Place new sealing ring into cylinder head.
Use original sealing ring of specified thickness and
shape only, so that the required distance of
7.8 - 8.4 mm between pre-chamber and cylinder head
is maintained.

Note: if cylinder head has been faced at parting
surface, add thicker sealing rings between
cylinder hard and pre-chamber when installing
pre-chambers.

The following sealing rings are available:

Thickness

1.9 2.1 (standard 615-017-00-60

2.2-2.4 615-017-01-60

2.5-2.7 615-017-02-60

2.8-3.0 615-017-03-60

Screw spindle of puller into pre-chamber
Position pre-chamber in such a manner
that the lug faces recess in cylinder head.

Insert pre-chamber by means of light blows
with a plastic hammer against spindle. Pull
bell shaped member with one hand in upward
direction and hold in place.

Lubricate threaded ring and tighten to
specified torque of 150 - 180 Nm by means
of pertinent socket wrench.
