240D 83 Automatic Delayed kickdown
Having an issue with a delayed kickdown from the transmission of about 5 seconds after foot pushes pedal to floor. Known statistics are that the vacuum modulator has been tested and holds vacuum. The amount of vacuum going to the transmission is within spec of 11 to 15 in HG and as the pedal is being depressed, vacuum reading go towards 0.
I'm looking for some advice from the guru's out there of what could be causing this. Thanks in advance Greg |

You've checked the fuse and the kickdown switch wiring? Kickdown switch is on rear pax side of tranny, connected to the switch on the floor.

Thanks Yak for that thought, but No I haven't checked that yet. I'll dig up a schematic for I'm still waiting for the FSM's I ordered last week to arrive. I thought there was only a vacuum line going to the tranny! Will check tonight, pending the weather/raing on the east coast and let you know.
Does the kickdown switch work in conjunction with the vacuum modulator when pedal is fully to the floor ? |

A quick look through the wiring diagram would seem to show the kickdown switch sends the signal to the vacuum solenoid. I didn't look up your year/model, so it may not match exactly.

That's what I found also. It appears that the power for the kickdown switch is coming from the positive side of the neutral safety switch. When it stops raining here in a couple of days, according to the forcast I'll get under the car and check for voltage at the switch.
