14-pin MALE connector - does it exist?
Does anyone know if mercedes made a 14-pin MALE connector (for any model) that joins with the 14-pin female connector that is used on the cruise control amp, the climate control unit, the alarm module, etc. in a w124 or similar? I've only seen the male side of this 14-pin connection as a molded part of the case that the plug connects to. I'm looking for a connector that has the male pins like the cases of these units do, but which are housed in a connector. Know what I mean?
I'm also looking for an 8-pin MALE connector with the same size pins as on the alarm module. Anyone know if these were used in any model mercedes? |

So unlike the VW ETKA, Mercedes' EPC does not have an electrical section that I can see. I did some searching and found lots of notes for that plug being used on cruise control systems, but never the "opposite end".
I then looked in the VW ETKA, and found some connections that might work. One was used on LT vans in the 80s and 90s. It's #17 in this diagram. #7 and #8 also look promising, they were used on Audi 5000s. It does have round solder connections like a Mercedes. ![]()

Thanks for looking that up. I called my local VW dealer... #7 and #8 are about $60 a piece, #17 was only $11.50, but in either case the pins run about $6.60 each! They don't stock them, so I'd have to special order and would be obligated to buy just to find out if the parts even mate with what I have. So I asked if he know where to find that part in the car (thinking I'd have to go pulling from a junkyard, just to test it) but he didn't know.

They're used on the dashboard harnesses of 1984-1988 Audi 5000 Turbos, and 1990-1994 V8s. (Odd they aren't listed on the NA cars... explains why I didn't see any on mine, it was an NA)
Guessing by the lengths of wire on the diagram I would say they live under the main fuse box, above the dead pedal, inside the dashboard.

I found a 14 pin male connector at the end of a 124 combination switch. You 123 people live in a very small world

Cool, but that uses the larger pins. I actually came across that same one two nights ago while digging for the X30 connector. Man was that a hassle!
I also noticed the X23/3 connector recently in the ETM. It's called the "Soft top/interior connector (14-pole)". I don't have access to a cabriolet, so I can't find out if it uses the smaller pins. 123 people? I've got a 124. ![]() |

Just teasing. I thought every 124 owner would know about the combination switch connector. What I didn't say is 124 owners live in a smaller world
