How do you replace rubber gasket on wiper motor assembly for W124?
Hi,
I have a 1990 300D (2.5TD) and I need to replace the rubber gasket/seal on the wiper motor assembly. The gasket is between the wiper arm and the back of the wiper motor linkage assembly. It is a rubber gasket that has a clamp around it. Mercedes sells the rubber gasket and clamp but I don't know how to remove it from my wiper assembly. Can someone please provide a recommendation on how I can replace the rubber gasket on the assembly? I tried to take it apart but it seems not to separate so that I can slip the gasket out. Thanks. If you are able to post a picture for people without that particular model.. it might help...
Generically speaking ... can you cut it out ? When putting tight fitting gaskets back in... often spraying them with Silicone spray does the trick....

The W124 has the traditional mono-wiper arm and I am attempting to remove the cover of the arm so that I can get to the rubber gasket to replace it. I will not be able to get the new gasket on without removing the wiper cover.
Does anyone have directions on how to change the rubber gasket or remove the wiper cover? Thanks. |

Do you mean the rubber arc held by 5 or 6 little Philips head screws? Can you take a picture so we know what you're describing?

This should help!
You can always check under the Resources tab and the DIY articles. Here is the link.

Here is a picture of the rubber gasket I am referring to that is between the wiper assembly and glass. How do you remove the wiper cover? Does the wiper assembly have to be removed from the car in order to change the rubber gasket for a 1990 300D? Thanks.

Wiper assembly has to be removed and disassembled to replace that rubber skirt. How do you know you need to replace it?

It needs to be replaced since previous owner cut the rubber gasket in order to remove old windshield and install a new windshield.
I did not receive the link in the previous post. Does some have a link or information that they can please share with me? Thanks. Louis |

That puts the wiper assembly in your hands. Then comes taking apart the linkage to get to the panel that includes that skirt. I've been into a couple of wiper assemblies, 140 and 208 but not 124. It would be difficult to talk someone through that process. Consider replacing the wiper assembly with a good used unit. Sixto 87 300D |
