MB painting process

Onward and upward with this car!! At Saturday's diesel meet, JCD couldn't help but recognize the little bit o' rust at the left rear of my wagon and informed me that I should take care of this rather quickly before it makes it way to the spare tire compartment. Good advice, but I need a plan. A couple people mentioned the Mercedes paint process and the advantages of it. I can certainly see the advantages just by looking at my car and noticing that although the car is almost 19 years old the paint is fairly decent. I would like to have the problem areas of rust completely taken care of but i want to do it right. I really dislike Bondo and prefer not to put any on the car...

So...........
My questions:
What does thMB painting process entail?
Does anyone have a good source for getting this done?(good body shop in NJ)
Is it expensive? (relative terms)
Are there any good options? (no... I'm not getting rid of the car yet)

thanks in advance for the info...
Andrew

Andrew...Unicar

I would recommend Unicar in Sparta, NJ. They did a great job on our Nissan Van (the one that my wife was in a 3 car accident with in our DRIVEWAY)

They also do all of the body work for Intercar, the MB dealer in Newton NJ.

They are on route 15, 1/2 way between Sparta and Lafayette.

I thought Intercar was on the corner of 206 and 94?

Andrew, please pass along pricing, if you get that far with Intercar. The 79 could use some skin attention...

Just to give you a feel

I had the guy at Unicar give me a "back of the envelope" estimate on having the rust on my 300D fixed, i.e.

behind drivers side front and rear wheels and a couple of other spots. He "quoted" in the range of $1,500 including replacing the fenders (MB parts).

Seemed pretty reasonable, as he was with the Nissan.

He uses standard time and materials and only bills what he estimates unless there is MAJOR hidden damage. (rare in NJ)
