Do I have a Parallel flow condenser ?
Okay, I believe it is just by the definition. The car was converted many years ago to 134. The condenser looks like the one in my 82 911SC where the tubing runs Parallel back and forth horizontaly. I am about to order a new rcvr/dryr and want to do this once this year. So does anyone have a pic of the oem style ?
Thanks Alan

Can't you find an online parts catalog with good pics to compare to ?

I went to a couple but no photos. I think in a recent thread you or VSTech mentioned a company in AZ for a replacement. I will try their site.
Thanks

I just posted a new thread regarding the measurements/ size of a new parallel flow condenser from ackits.com ( is it okay to mention them ?) Any way they said to measure the oem one or if someone here did the same conversion through them they could use the specs from someone elses invoice. So if they have their invoice # it could be looked up.
Thanks Again

The '85+ W126s have a much better condenser than the early cars, it is not your problem. I have temps in the 30s(°F) in my SD with the awesome R4 and R12.
My SDL is even better due to the superior compressor design and larger cooling fan... plus it has the same style condenser. Small tubes in lieu of the large ones. Lastly, tint helps... immensely.

2x!!! I just had my Jetta tinted (black car, black interior). Parking in the sun the car is 35*F cooler when I get in. When I arrive at my destination the computer back on the back seat is cold... that never happened before!
Tint will be one of the first things I do to my SDL once Roy finishes with it -J

I agree the tint makes a huge difference. My 82 911SC that I bought and drove in Texas for 3-4 years had marginal a/c even with the a/c components in perfect working order. Then I tinted it WOW! what a difference. My 92 500E had it done from the dealer or the original owner because it was sold in Arizona.
I bought the car used in Northern Va/ Washington DC area Any one that has been here in July and August can tell you the heat is bad the humidity is worse. The 500E no problemo even in stop and go traffic. The 85 300 SD is Pearl Black Metallic and I remember the a/c being marginal but I can not remember if that was before or after Dad had the a/c repaired. I need to check his 3 inch thick file of maint. records ( bless his heart) I do plan on having the windows tinted however in Va they are very restrictive on how dark. But again every bit helps. Thanks Alan

Clean the evap core guys with some foaming stuff. It is a PITA to get in there, but it helps too. Make sure there is no crap in the condenser nor blocking the aux fan. All these little bits can drastically subtract cooling capacity.
I live in Texas, trust me... it is a bit on the warm side here in the summer.

Check out post number 10 in this thread...
if you think having an evaporator that dirty will not hamper AC you are smoking the wrong stuff.... Order for installing evap box in a W123. Most of them never get cleaned in the life of the car.... people replace everything on the AC system and neglect to clean those fins...

Got guys, I will take the extra steps. I was more wrapped up in the things to do while the system is open to replace the rcvr/dryr and recharge but you are both right. As for Texas.......Oh Yeah !. i lived in Dallas off and on for many years and worked in Houston for months at a time always during the Summer.
Come to think of it the same Boss was the one that always sent me to work a few weeks at a time to Chicago, Minnesota and Buffalo in the middle of Winter. HMMMMM I wonder. Thanks Alan
