Is Vacuum pump rebuild kit N.L.A. ?

ive searched and checked w.p. and fastlane, seem to have all the same stuff. looking for vac pump rebuild kit for my 85 300d 617.952. I would have also expected that the new vac pump arm/bearing assy. from pierburg would use the new sealed bearings unless the pic is outdated? any leads...

The dilemma with the Vacuum Pump rebuild kits is that if you buy the Piston End kit rebuild kit and the Drive Arm end rebuild kit (the part with the Bearing) you have almost spent as much as the cost of a new Vacuum Pump.
And, when you are done rebuilding it you have no warranty.

There is a thread where they speak of only replacing the Bearing. But, in that thread they said they cannot be sealed because they need to be lubed by Oil from the Timer.
So I do not think you will find one with a sealed bearing. What I believe was said is that the Older type Bearings had a Plastic Cage to hold the Balls in and I believe I read there was less Ball Bearings in them.
When the plastic Cage went the bearing failed.

I forgot something. Another plus for buying a new Vacuum Pump is that it comes with a New Check Valve as part of the assembly.
A New Check Valve buy itself is close to $60.

Fast lane sucks. I looked up for a 85 300D. Looked in the engine section, and no Vac pump listed.

Typed vacuum Pump in the search. a whole list of vacuum related stuff is listed.
Only thing available is the "Vacuum Pump repair Kit" W0133-1600004 $318.33

Can`t even order a vacuum Pump from the catalog.

everything else I clicked on is not available.

Give Phill a call on the 800#, he can source the part for you, and probably cheaper than going to the dealer.

A Pierburg Vacuum pump ought to be the same with or without the Mercedes star on it.
I am going to PM some more info.

Part of the OP statment was:
"new vac pump arm/bearing assy. from pierburg would use the new sealed bearings"

Are the Bearings In the newer kits or Vacuum Pumps Sealed?

Sorry, I was rushed = multitasking.

The sealed bearing was optional on the OM617 vacuum pump, only the OM60X required it to survive...

The kit is

I put a new VP on my 85 TD a couple months ago and I believe the new bearing looked just like the old one, It would be noticeable, I would think?
