Adding Vacuum Actuator to Driver's Door - 84 SD
I'd like a keyless entry system, but I don't have a vacuum pod in my driver door. I'd think it would be relatively simple to add one along with the necessary vacuum hose cut in from the rear door (the hardest part probably). I guess the question is whether the linkage is the same that goes to the electrical switch, and is it the same electrical connector for the pod as it is for the switch.
The reason I ask is because the keyless entry systems that actuate the vacuum systems claim they don't work on the earlier models, and this makes sense because of the lack of the door vacuum pod actuator. If I add the actuator, and the door operates the same electrically when using the key, I should be able to install a keyless entry system that uses the vacuum pump. Has anyone tried this mod? What problems are there? I have access to a great MB recycling yard that would have any parts I'd need. Just want to know what I'm getting into ahead of time.
