Low Mileage Barn Find

I have been looking for a nice diesel W123 chassis for a while. Well I rode by the back end of a 300D looking at me from inside a dark barn.

I found out who owned the car. I arranged a meeting to look at the car. To my suprise a 99,273 mile one owner 1985 300D. Car was brought new by his father. His father later brought a Toyota and gave him the 300D. For the past ten years he has drove it a couple times a week to play golf.
Interior is perfect tan MB tex. Since the car has rarely seen the sun the dash is crack free and the wood is all 100% perfect.

I run it through the $5.00 car wash but other than that this is how I found the car.

I am really happy with the car got the paperwork done today and drove the car all afternoon. The only issue is Diesel is $3.48 a gallon these days.
Pics

I paid $2500.00 Cash for the car.

Great find !! The price was right!! Looking at the steering wheel, it is clear that the mileage is genuine, no ware at all.
You will have lots of maintenance to do now.

I wanted to blow the barn dust off before I put the hand wash on her.

I might have a flat spot on one of the tires. Maybe it will go away...or she will get a new set of shoes....

Great find, it really looks like a new car at 99k, whereas most cars start looking worn out around that age/mileage, gotta love the quality of an older Mercedes. 99k down, 400k to go.

I am working on my fastlane order right now. The valve cover is leaking around the base.

Rubber seals have a little cracking around the top. Car was dry after the car wash. Window wipes are clean and nice.

As long as it's dry (especially after a car wash) you are probably ok, but it's not a big deal to replace them once they start leaking. I think keeping a car indoors most of the time out of the rain and sun really helps keep the seals in much better condition, all my garage queen Mercedes are dry as a bone, ones that have seen more use and have been parked outside always need some new seals here and there to dry them out.
