Lost my kickdown.
I changed the ATF on the 190d and for some reason I no longer have my kickdown. It was fine before the ATF change.
I have done a search with not much success. Can someone tell me if the kickdown mechanism is electric or vacuum? what does the device look like? is there a fuse for it? where would you start looking for the problem? All I did was drain the pan, replaced the filter then refilled with ATF. It shifts fine in normal operation but when I press on the pedal, no kickdown. It stays in the current gear.

Hey Ben, that should be electronic. Could be coincidence but check/unplug the switch under the go pedal. Also, check to make sure the bowden cable did not get broken/misadjusted in the process of adding trans fluid. There is a single wire lockdown solenoid on the trans that could have also come disconnected.
