I have a plain old 5/16 fuel hose on my W124, and a new cigar on my W123.
I was told the Cigar hose was designed to eliminate a sound issue. (no idea).

My wagon had issues when I put a straight hose on. I started getting a thumping issues. My 240 didn't care that is had a straight hose on it. So it is different from one car to the next. I've grabbed a hold of cigar hoses and felt very strong pulses going through, and seen them pulse. If his is pulsing badly, and he's got a straight 5/16" hose on it it could be causing restriction, which could cause the injector lines to pop off. Just a suggestion. It may not change anything.
