Are These Switches Supposed to Light Up?

Is the row of switches above the CC unit (sunroof, antenna, rear dome light, etc.) supposed to light up when the lights are on, similar to how the window switches light up? Those switches in my '83 300D do not currently illuminate.

They do. They're all illuminated by a single thread of optic fiber. If it's broken it will be a bit hard to put back in place, not to mention to find among all the wiring behind the panel. Or maybe the bulb is burnt, just replace it. It's all behind the panel though.

Check the bulb first, you must remove the panel to do this.

One bulb illuminates everything, you will see when you get in there.

If it is the loom, it should not be hard to source from a JY.

on mine it not a single one but one light fiber to each light needed, some switches have two light fibers. all the fibers lead back to a single bulb in the miidle way back inside the dash. The bulb is part of the CCU harness and always pops out when installing because its barely long enough, killing all of the lights on the light spider. I added 8 inches to this bulb line and now it always stays in place. My guess is your bulb just popped out and you will find it dangling loose behind the CCU

True, there is just one bulb, but there are various fiber optic lines. The bulb is just before a little manifold to which the fiber optic lines are connected. Many switches have two fiber optic lines to them. If you have no light at all in any of the switches, the problem is going to be at the bulb. The lines are easily unplugged; just be careful not to break them and you'll be fine.
