Auto Painting In Dallas Area
Any recommendations on a good but affordable shop in Dallas to have my 240D repainted?

Not that I would know any, but it may help if you provide details as to how good of a paint job you want done.
You're likely to the "Maaco" response. Here in Austin, I plan to use the independent shop that does work for MBoAustin. They're certified by MB, BMW, ZO6 Vette. I had my GTI worked on them a few year ago and the paint was fantastic. No shortcuts (including the price).

The trick to a nice job on these cars is finding someone who has stripped the trim from them before. If someone doesn't know how to do it, they will either tape it (makes for a less than superior overall job) or destroy trim trying to get it off.
I used to know some good painters in the DFW area, but I haven't lived there in almost 24 years so my knowledge is so dated that it's useless. |

I'm not sure about Dallas. You might call the Park Place dealership and ask them if there is a local body shop they use. In Ft Worth, everyone tells me Caliber Collision Center is the place to go. They specialize in MBs, BMW, Volvo etc. I believe they are a franchise so there might be one in Dallas as well.

Yes, I have had satisfactory collison repair done at Caliber and they came highly recommended. It was on a much newer MB though. I don't know if they have anyone who has ever stripped trim from a 123 car. They are more geared toward late model collision work. I also would not expect them to be the cheapest place in town.

The high end place in Plano is a small body shop by the name of New Concept. They are located on Avenue K near Legacy. I was there last week having the mystery dent (rear of the 124 - you guys know what I'm talking about) fixed. Again. They had several Lamborghinis in residence, a Nissan GTR, a CL600, a smattering of BMWs, etc. When I picked the car up they were detailing a RUF Porsche turbo.
I woudl expect them to be expensive, though they fixed the mailbox-shaped-dent in the decklid of my wife's car for a very reasonable cost. |

I think "Alabassi" has a good place he recommends for working on older MBs.
