In response to the question about the 1,000,000,km badge. I hope to get Ol' Silver back on the road no later than spring. It is only about 90,000 miles away from the Mega Km. I will probably start commuting in it again, 178 miles per day, so the Mega badge might be in sight in anothe two years or so.

I hope to fund the motor rebuild soon.

Have a great day,

Finally made it

About three weeks ago the 4.5 rolled past the 155K mark. I had my papers filled out and drove 40 miles to the nearest dealer had them confirm and sign (even though the 'advisor' claimed to not know what I was talking about). Then drove home.

Then I called MBUSA and inquired about the 560, could I tack it on the same form. They replied "sure". I did, then mailed the form. Yesterday both badges and certificates arrived in the mail. Both cars are now proudly displaying their accomplishment for all to see.

One thing I noticed regarding the size of the badges. They fit beautifully on the older grilles, as the chrome strips are way far apart, like 3 inches or so, while on the newer cars the strips are much closer together. On the 4.5 the badge sits flush againts the grille insert but on the 560 the badge overlaps the strip on either the top or bottom - you can see that in Larry's badge picture.

They both look great.

Hey MikeT!, did the dealer run the VIN through the computer? I f any recall/warranty work was done on the car it should show up in MB's database and probably have mileage listed.

If you're asking about the 4.5, yes the dealer tried running it by VIN (full and last 6), prior owner's name and every other conceivable way with no joy. Personally I was hoping we'd find evidence of higher mileage, but I'll settle for the 155K. The 560 has the 6 digit odometer so there was no arguement.

FYI, Stopped by my local dealer (Walters) yesterday to get the mileage award paperwork. They told me that the program had been discontinued! Well, today I called MBUSA and the paperwork will be here in 7 to 10 days.

When I told the nice lady what my dealer had told me she became kind of stern and replied "we currently have the program"

I don't know if Mercedes is going to change this program, but I did not get that warm and fuzzy feeling.

The program has been around for a long while, and I doubt it's going anywhere.

I remember when I got my grille badge, I ripped open the envelop and rushed outside to put it on, I then drove around to my friends houses for them to admire it

I have the certificate some where in my pile of important papers, one of these days I'm going to get it framed to hang in the garage.
