oil leakage around oil filler cap...is there a gasket replacement
Is there a gasket replacement for under the oil filler cap. I noticed a bit of oil residue draining down the valve cover. I did the dancing cap test and no dancing

Which car?
Yes and Yes (sort of)... What do you do with the cap when you remove it (to add oil etc..)? Parts are at the top of the page "Buy Parts". Go to Fastlane put in the make/year/engine, then type "oil cap" in the keyword search. This will bring you to the gaskets.

Yeah, probably the same part for either car.

Turning it upside down allows the oil to run into the cap. Then when you put it back on.... It runs down onto the valve cover.
I went so far as to replace the cap just to find out I was not supposed to flip it over. ![]()

As said above, the gasket for the cap is in the buy parts, about $2.50.
when I remove the cap, I set it on a rag right side up. then wipe off the bottom real well. then before replacing it, I wipe off the valve cover, and screw it down. I replaced mine about 4yrs ago, and I now get some weeping if I put it on one way, I do a 180, and no leak. they do get cooked and dry out in time. so, the next order I`ll order a couple along with the rubber elbo next to it. reviving this old thread.
Just put on the new gasket and essentially Glued the "blow by chimney". Now you can eat off my valve cover.

Clean both sides, place the cap right side up, clean oil filler hole and you're set.

I put a little bit of grease on my oil cap gasket to improve the seal, seems to work fine.
