Water in headlight???!!! 84 300SD

I have a 1/2 inch of water in one headlight on my 84 300sd. I have a CD manual for my 83 300CD but my 300SD has different headlights and I am not sure how to take it apart to get the water out and open a drain somewhere that ought to have already let it out.
Anyone know how to open this up?

Is it the headlight itself, or the housing around it? ("headlight door" they call it, for some unknown reason...)

If it's the rectangular headlight itself, just replace the thing.

If it's the 'door', it shouldn't get wet at all, and is sealed fairly well, so you'll likely need to remove it, and either split it open to thoroughly dry it before resealing it, or drill a small hole in one corner and brace it so it can drain out that way.

If you drill it, I'd suggest finding a way to get air flow through it, so it doesn't just condense all over inside.

Neither of these is probably 'proper' but I suspect that would involve an expensive trip to the dealer for a new part.

Anyone else have any ideas?

If you are replacing the sealed beam dump the krappy DOT lights and pick up some drop in ecodes from ebay or such. You'll be glad you did

Leaking blinker fluid. Don't turn to that side till you fix it- you could throw a blinker rod if your not careful.

Ah the old zipper in the water jacket:+)
AT first I hadn't seen the tiny little stone chip in the rectangular glass front part. I guess the water must have gotten in there somehow. It really doesn't look like that much water .etc etc) I think I can seal it with accelerator and Cyanoacrylate (aka crazy glue) and I'll just have to take it apart and dry it all out very thoroughly. I'll post again if I find anything surprizing or interesting when cleaning it out and repairing it.
