Parting with a gem like that is hard, because once its gone its gone.

Really nice. I have a uber low mileage one as well and find it hard to drive it at all. It's got about 4,000 miles on it and I only drag it out for car shows. Dumb. I consider my '83 with 39,000 my driver!

Nice car, if I had the cash...

Oh well, at least you know anyone interested enough to pay the price will provide a good home. Good luck!

I'm rooting for the guy who drove six+ hours here to see the car, then drove the six+ hours to get back home..Now that's my kind of hard core diesel guy!! Pretty sure he will give her a good home.

It's bittersweet...the reason I have as many cars as I do is that over time they kind of become a member of the family, each with their own unique story and personality. The more time it spends, the more difficult the parting- as silly as that sounds for an inanimate object. I also know that it is unlikely I will ever be able to find another one as nice as that if I were to try.

That said, I am delighted that it is going to a new owner who will likely be as fastidious as me, and will not make a "grease car" out of it. Additionally, with that garage bay now freed up, I can finally make arrangements for my "real" midlife crisis car to be delivered!

Very close to my record, but I think yours has more "value". I sold a 1985 300TDT with 58k miles on it on ebay for $16,700, but yours is an automatic 240D so I'd say you won on that one. Congrats on the large chunk of cash.

He probably beat the record he set when he purchased it for $15.5K.

Nice car, but I like to spend money on things I can use without guilt/fear/etc.

That's not too far off the mark...though as such- I have essentially had the privilege of owning the car for the last seven years free of charge...

Wow, amazing car! I hope the new owner appreciates it as much as you did, Jay! :-)
