There is nothing lacking in the quality of these cars vs the 124; just the size. Unfortunately the diesels are relatively rare and most of the gassers have been abused. Every so often a good one comes up for sale. They are solidly built, and I would not give up mine for the world. The 84 with the 2.2 is a bit of a slug but very economical; the 2.5 is faster and the 2.5 turbo is the best..but only available in the 87 model year.
Like any 15-20 year old car, once you get the maintenance items out of the way they just run forever.

They don't do much for me. But one in Evo trim would be bad ass.

Having spent a bit of time on the other side of the pond I couldn't help but notice the percentage of taxis that were 190s both gas and diesel, although more of the latter. I love mine; 4 bangers are sluggish but cruise nicely once up to speed. Economical in every respect, and a pleasure to wrench on.

I have a 5spd "conversion kit" set aside for mine, but am looking for a flywheel from a 2.2 or 2.5 diesel; Jim: your donor car wouldn't happen to have one would it?
