YOu need to turn the adjuster on the steering box anticlockwise. I just adjusted mine on my 300K+ chassis and its almost too responsive. No play whatsoever!

If you remove all the play (too tight of an adjustment) on the Steering Box Adjuster it becomes kind of sticky and you will be moving the Steering Wheel back and forth trying to keep it centered as you drive. You need to have some play in the Steering Wheel.
