Shifter level issues... on the tranny.....

Nice... so I thought I would get caught up on some projects I have been meaning to do... Tie rod replacement, speedo cable, shifter bushings....

Things going GREAT (but that usually means that something is going to go wrong.....)

Got the bushings in.. .While I was doing it, I found that if I losened up the shifter lever on the transmission that I could swing the level down to make it easier to get the bushing in. While putting it back, I found that there is a little plastic piece that is attached to the lever. This piece seems to be the actual item that shifts the transmission. Well that piece broke. Now I am trying to figure out how to get the shifter lever off so I can see if I can epoxy this plastic piece.

Anyone run into this issue before? Yes I did a search.

OK DUUHH, yes it is the neutral safety switch. The main problem I was having was the lever was not going on properly. It needs to be spread open so that it can fit on the fitted bar.

Yes, it can be a PITA when lying on your back under a car that is 5 inches from your face.

But, replacing the bushing made a huge difference for me.
