OK. I watched the video. But I think this was done by a retired MB mechanic who spent his career as fuse box removal and installation specialist.

EDIT: So i did it, noticed a few things. First off removing the rubber guard helped a ton. but what helped the most was putting the hood into the vertical position i had it on with one hand like forced was doing it. helped my 0 to.. on times alot.

I thought the whole world knew that. On second thought,
My ex-daily didn't have a fuse box cover when I got it.

Hilarious! this whole thread gave me a good laugh!! I'm so glad it wasn't just me out there in an epic battle with my fuse box cover. The last guy who owned my car actually broke it in half and glued it back together.

after avoiding my fuse box at all costs I finally discovered the trick of pulling back the rubber lining around the hood

If all you have to worry about is a fuse box cover, the cars must obviously be treating you too well.

Now I know I am an idiot with two left hands but I've never had an issue with the fuse box. Takes me 5 seconds to take them off and put them back on. Never understood why others are having so many issues with it?
Unscrew both knobs, tilt bottom of cover plate as far forward as it'll go, lift up the right side (standing in front) a bit, and you can clear everything and pull it out easily.
