Coolant Drain Plug

Does anyone have a picture of the coolant drain plug on the block of a OM616?

This is for a 617a but the 616 is in the same location.

So I'm assuming this view is with the hex bolt taken out?

Is this view on the bottom or side of the engine?

It's also obvious that engine is outside of the car. See the engine mount arm.
You could never get a camera in that area of the engine bay to get that photo. It's hard enough to get your hands in there on a turbo 617.

I don't think there is an easy way to open this plug. Trying to get the leverage to twist, its location - too hard for a girl.

If anyone has any ideas how to open this plug, please post.

YEAH!!! I just got it!!

I used PB blaster, had read on other threads that it is good on stuck parts.

Couple of good twists with the 19mm and extension, to the left, and it came off.

Granted, I do lift weights a couple times a week, but a bodybuilder I am not...

I'm a girl, so no excuses now from any of you guys.

Lots of water came out. I wonder why the water coming out of the radiator drain is so rusty looking, while this water out of the block came out a lot clearer?

Edit: this is for the 240D, does not have turbo, a/c or other stuff in the way, so perhaps my engine has (a bit) more room to maneuver.

Ok, now I feel like I have really lost it or the menehunes are playing tricks with me....

I lost the crankcase drain plug, what is the size to replace it, or what can I do in the meantime?

( And no, I haven't been drinking...I think in my excitement, I misplaced it, or put it in a place where the goat might have played with it. I thought I left it on the air filter housing, but its so weird, its gone...)

Just be glad that you don't have to deal with packrats. They chew on everything and steal the smaller stuff. Wish I had enclosed space for all of the parts cars.

Sorry don't have the value for the plug size or threads.

Oh, we have plenty mice/rats here, too. It's so bad, I had to move my horse's feed from the barn to the house. What feed I do leave in the barn has to be in the galvanized trash cans.

Mongoose, too. I think they are the ones that always take my one glove.

Good for the cat, hardly ever have to feed him! Easy keeper, loves fresh mouse!

Well, just as I suspected....

Found it, near where I thought I left it. It was on the ground, I'm guessing the goat tried to play with it, then spit it out. Couldn't see it last night, too dark.

This has taught me to keep the parts I remove in one place, the same place, and out of reach of the goat!

The culprit:

Yup, pretty much just like a zoo (or a circus) around here!

The block drain is easier to get at than I remembered. 19mm socket, 6" extension and a small breaker bar.
