'87 300TD Wagon Restore or break for parts?
I bought a non running '87 turbo diesel wagon at an estate sale with a closet full of parts, new and used.
Went back with a good battery, after a couple of minutes of cranking she started and ran sweetly on a 30F day. Drives well shifts as should stops ok. No SLS pump, but still got SLS shocks (!!!) has a #14 head. Blower motor doesn't function, (but comes with a new one in a box) White with blue tex, shows 260K miles. A little smoke on start up but none on the move, good acceleration. Lots of new parts, exhaust, pads, rotors, seats are good, accept for a slight tear in the drivers seat. Leaky sunroof, but it works, as do all seats and windows. Quite a bit of rust. Both rockers need to be replaced, but floors are good. Rust in passenger engine compartment wheel well. Passenger rear fender rusty. Drivers rear wheel arch just bubbling. So, break for parts, restore, or find a southern car with a blown motor and switch over?

its a tough choice but sometime nostalgia forces you to hold too tight to bad money. since you are not attached to it, make a list of the good and the bad and a realistic cost to fix. A decent wagon can be had for 4-5K so if you cant realistically get this one to a decent condition for that then sell what you have peice by peaice and put that toward a nicer one. if you decide to keep it there is plenty of help here on th forum for questions.
