thermostat leak
Changed the thermostat. Got a new o-ring gasket and all. And it leaks. PO had used silicone, Spent a long time cleaning it up.
What else can I do? It looks like the o-ring that fits around the t-stat is the only seal in there? thanks Doug

The o-ring is, and should be, the only seal needed. Check for a silicone goober you might have missed or perhaps the o-ring slipped out of its groove and got pinched during assembly.
Good luck, Jim

Agreed, make sure you don't have a hose leaking fluid down, to fool you into thinking the leak is elsewhere. Good luck.

I honestly don't know what the set up is in your model; however, when I changed out my t-stat and gasket last month I ran into the following problem. Went to the parts place and they said they had the parts for my model - I bought them, got home took everthing apart, dug out the old stat and gasket only to find that not only did I not get the right stat, I also got the wrong gasket. What I was given was an o-ring, but that is not what I needed. What was needed was gasket that fit around the outside rim of the stat. I had to reorder elsewhere and wait four days to get it. Anyway, like I said defer to someone else who knows your model, but on mine, it doesn't take an "o-ring" in the strictest sense, but rather a rubber seal.

Again, I don't know the model. However, the picture in the link shows a possible two seals - one looks to go around the stat and the other an o-ring. The description states that both are now included to account for both early and late models. Dunno if that helps.

I have both of those, But only used the one that fastens to the t-stat. Do I need the other one? Napa's also comes with a seal, almost like a wheel seal?

Should not need that either. I used only the gasket that aroung the t'stat itself, no leaks.

Are you sure you installed it the correct way?

t-stat is in the correct way, I did not see a direction on the gasket.
The housing is dripping onto the lower hose right under the t-stat seal. Snowing today. See how it goes Monday...
