Block Heater?
When I bought my 1993 300D 2 years ago it came with a brand new block heater cord in the trunk. I'm not sure where to look on the engine for the block heater so I can plug it in.

This might help. I know you have a 2.5, but I belive the block heater is in the same location. It is on my '87.

I know this is going to sound stupid, but I plugged the block heater in on my wife's '87 300D a few times last winter when we had under 30F weather and in the AM I really couldn't tell if it worked or not.
Either it doesn't do much until the temp gets down into the teens (meaning I really don't need it in Seattle), OR I'm not smart enought to tell if it is working, OR it is not working. Any easy way to tell if it is working? THanks -Harv |

Open the hood and feel if the block is warm or use an infared thermometer and see if it is significantly above ambient.

Mine feels about "room temperature" when it's been on for a couple of hours.

I recall trying to feel for heat by hand but I still couldn't tell. I'll wait until we get two cold AMs in a row and try to check one day with the heater and one day without. Thanks
