Glow Plug Light is not working!
1985 300D Turbo
The weather has dipped in temperature and I'm close to putting her away for the winter, but..... When I turn the key, the glowplug light doesn't come on. This is a new thing. The temp wasn't quite cold enough for it to start as rough as it did this morning, leading me to believe that my "pre-glow"(I don't know the right terms, sorry) isn't functioning- not just my glow plug light on the dash. Recently, I tightened the alternator-the belt was loose and was squeaking and not charging my battery properly. I also cleaned off my battery cables yesterday with a bottle of coke. (I rinsed with water-didn't leave the coke pooling anywhere. Please help. Direct me to the proper thread if need be. As always, thanks for the help. Jay |

Most likely culprit is a bad glowplug (or 2). First, check to make sure your glowplugs are getting 12 volts when the key is turned to the glow position. If they are, then put the multimeter on ohms and check the resistance of each glow plug. Resistance about 1 indicates a problem glow plug.
If they're not getting 12 volts, check the strip fuse.
