Failure. The internal thread on the puller is as weird as the external thread. No long bolt could be found. The eared socket idea works well, though extra guiding hands may be needed on some collars.

Back to welding the bicycle nut to an appropriate nut for the slide hammer.

It goes without saying that the true redneck would read between the lines and use the age old redneck rule of substitution. Any item, preferably 'borrowed', that is in any way similar to another can be substituted.

Using this rule, we can see that the redneck would have automatically relieved one of the torn up riding mowers rusting in his yard of a rim and used that instead of store bought mallarky.

If you like the slide hammer, you should see my homemade redneck head planer....

But really, if you are going to go the expensive, uninventive route of buying weights for your slide hammer, a 5lb barbell is probably the best best. 3lbs was too light when I did it, so I used 6lbs.

You can buy a 5lb barbell at Wally World for about $2.39 plus tax.

Nobody besides eng at work has the lock ring remover and he doesnt seem to be around these days.
