IIRC it gets as hot as the engine (not the coolant), maybe even warmer than the coolant since it sprayes the pistons, runs along the crank, etc. I do not have an IR thermometer, yet.

If someone does, could they run their om617 on a good highway run and take the temp of the lower tank on the oil cooler and post it?

That would give a good ball park to oil temp, I would think.

The oil thermostat opens at 110*c (230*f) so it probably gets up to 250 in hot weather conditions.

Hot enough tho burn you, put your hand on the valve cover after a good
run. won`t stay there long.
go to a hose shop that makes up hydrolic lines for equipment like back
hoes, road graders etc... they have all kinds of hose for different types of
applications. they will steer you in the right direction. don`t micky mouse
things together and be sorry later on.

That's fine for the oil line leaving the cooler but the one line will still be hot.

Don't skimp out on the oil cooler lines. If they fail, they are one of the few things that can kill an engine before you notice oil on the road or smell oil. At 100psi oil pressure the engine can pump it out pretty darn quick.

Pressure washer hose might work, just be sure that it will work with oil.

Do it right the first time so you don't have to do it again

You might consider some aircraft hose. Check Aircraft Spruce & Specialty.

Yeah, I agree. There are some stainless steel braided oil cooler hose available for aircraft use. But I think they only have it with AN fittings and you need to have an account with them guys to be able to order.

Just buy the hose and then install your own fittings. Or have a hydraulic shop do it.

Negative. Aircraft Spruce is second to none when it comes to service. No order is to small. I have ordered as little as a single bolt from them.

You might even be able to buy some hose at your local airport.
