84 300d lines knocked off
This weeks been a bummer. My mechanic knocked off a couple lines while replacing brake lines and now it won't shut off with the key.The brown line to IP shutoff is connected and the shut off works. The 4 way connector with the brown line to the firewall has an open port. What should this connect to?Also, the black line from box on valve cover to the three way connector to another black line has an open port.Nothing is connected to the line from the vacuum pump, the connections are broke.Just took it to a european car place and they won't even look at it.Too old, should'nt be on the road...Could someone with an 84 post a pic? Thanks

How many times has this happened to forum members that are working on their own car, and they have come here to ask for help. If the barbs are broken on the main vac line comming off the vac pump you'll need a new one. If the mechanic broke them off you should talk with him about a new one. Don't go in ragging mad, just be civil and ask about it. I've talked to a few euro shops, and in my experience they tend to stay away from them because they are diesels more than they are old. There is a sticky on the top of the diesel forum that has vac diagrams. Check those out.

The black one should be connected to nothing. The brown one goes between the shut-off valve and the ignition tumbler.

The problem isn't the fact that the mechanic broke or disconnected the vacuum lines (I've done it too), the problem is that he returned the car to the customer in that condition. How could he fail to notice that the car wouldn't shut off after he was done working on it?
