No. SeaFoam is mainly for gas engines, not diesels.

It's best to use PowerService (White or gray bottles) to put in the tank and Diesel Purge for use directly on the engine.

It says it right on the bottle that you can use it in your diesel. I use it for years with no ill effects. I even fill up the fuel filter after a filter change to clean the injectors.

Agreed, I don't know how it can hurt.

Just don't go and dump it down the the intake unless you want to clean your banjo bolt via run away diesel I have used it like diesel purge added it to fuel, tranny and crank case in my first 83 SD. Purge worked a little, the rest was unremarkable.

Howes is a coalescer (vs dispersant) I'd run a water trap with it (like the truckers do).

Howes was recommended and I love it. My 606 dont like low sulph fuel so much, so I've found Howes Meaner Cleaner a great conditioner.

Best "cleaner" so far for lil Blackie has been bio though. No more smoke from the engine, easier starting, and mpg creeped UP a wee bit ( although its barely measurable and likely a statistical anomoly).

No more pinging ( not nailing - pinging ) with a B30+ blend either.

Trouble is I'm running out of brewed bio ( the enigine REALLY likes it). I dumped 5 gals in the tank this am, 4-5 ozs of Meaner Cleaner and topped off with D2. B30-B40 I reckon.

BTW, used diesel purge, but the inj were clean anyway. Was hoping it would clean the chambers. Naw. Bio. Bio is a great de carbonizer it seems. At least for this 606.910 mill. Awesome judging by the way it runs. Will know more if I decided to pop the head off for a freshening this winter.

Yes you can use SeaFoam in a diesel. I run a can down the throat of my gassers once in a while ( although GM Top Engine cleaner is the best for that). But I'd use Howes Meaner CLeaner instead.

BTW, I can get the engine to stop pinging on hard acceleration by using PowerService with Cetane boost, but it cuts the power down dramatically. No ping, but no power.

Bio is the best cleaner imho, bar none. this is brewed bio ( FI will like that), adn there must be some methanol in the mix, since my skin dried up when I spilled some on it this am.

My dog wanted to lap the stuff up! Crazy dingo!

Seafoam in the tank has worked pretty well for me.
Purging the system with LubriMolly has worked better.

Thank You

How to Use SEA FOAM MOTOR TREATMENT
In Tune-Up of Diesel Engines

1. Fill primary fuel filter with SEA FOAM. Be sure filter is fully primed to prevent air locks. This will clean injectors quickly.

2. Use 1 pint of SEA FOAM to every 25 gallons of diesel fuel to add lubricity, clean fuel lines, injector pump and remove moisture.

3. Use 1 pint of SEA FOAM to every 4 gallons of oil to clean rings and other engine parts internally. For best results, use SEA FOAM for 1 hour before oil change. Results in cleaner engines and longer oil change intervals.

I'm not a big fan of putting fuel of any sort into the motor oil. I know it is a small risk, but something about inviting a runaway diesel condition bugs me.
