Hmm. I'd had mine a year and a half before the right low beam gave out. I happily bought a replacement, and I've been very impressed with them. Better light output than standard halogen, but enormously cheaper than $2k+ OEM xenon setups.

I went through 3 SilverStar SEALED BEAMS in less than 10 months... No overcharge, good connections.... Got rid of the last remaining buld, put in H4 conversions with cheapo JCWhitney Blue HID-Look lights and they ran like champs.. I'm using those bulbs now in my Euros.......
Silverstars are CRAP!! Best part? Buy 2 "Xenon Blue" bulbs from JCWhitney @ ~ $6ea and get a third free!

Well, I like their output, and even when I forget to dim them, I've never been brighted by oncoming drivers like I did when I had my Silverstars.. Heck, I'd get brighted with them on LOW BEAM sometimes.......

Why not use the Phillips sealed beams? I replaced my yellow, dull, Sylvania sealed halogens (they had water in them...so not really "sealed" anymore..) with some of the "Phillips UltraBlue" Sealed beams....they put out brilliant white light, and after nearly a year so far, work perfectly, and I do a lot of night driving, probably over half of my driving is at night....the highbeams are immensely bright too. Plus I got them in a Phillips lighting sale at Meijer for $9 each!!

I've had a set of Silverstars on the 300D for a couple of years now, I've had one low beam burn out. They are fine for sealed beam lights, I don't like the pattern as well as the euros on my 240D but they are pretty white (not yellowish) and have decent output. I don't remember what I paid, but they are fairly cheap as I recall.

Both of the sealed beam Sylvania Silverstar bulbs failed within 5 months of installing them in my 190D.
Regular halogen bulbs (on sale for $6 each) have been in for over a year now and still work fine. :yup:

Silverstar sealed beams burn out really fast, but my auto parts store up here (canada) has 1yr instant replacement on them. Sucks to be that store

I have been pleased with my silverstars. I have the H-4's in my euro headlights and they are yet to burn out after probably 2 1/2 years, yet I have a friend that went through 3 bulbs in the span of a year and I always hear stories of people that have both had good luck and bad luck with them.

The blue light spectrum is dangerous on a car. I relate it to a woofers sound it spreads everywhere. The light spreads everywhere. You want white or yellow light, not blue.

They may call them "UltraBlue" lamps....and the bulb itself is actually tinted light blue.....but, the light that comes out of it is crisp white....its amazingly white. It gives great visibility. Way way better than the dull halogen yellow color.
