W126 taillight lenses
I'm a bit tired of the yellowed reverse lenses on all the diesels. Even decent replacement lenses are somewhat yellowed.
Anybody procure these and wish to comment: |

I, also, cannot stand yellowed lenses. About 3-4 yrs. ago I bought the same type you show (the price was a lot less then). They aren't purist, but they're still CLEAR!!! and that's what I want.
just took the picture; car NOT washed. ![]() ![]()

It appears that the red reflectors behind the brake and taillights are not fully red? Seems a bit odd......... The clear reverse lights are terrific. |

They're red. It's just the photo. They are covered with the clear and don't give the look of bright red, but the red plastic is really red. Gotta use the orange bulbs in the side, though.
At night they are nice and bright, also. No safety issues. Of course, I have the "extra bulb" mod and some 20W #1156 Speedway Motors bulbs in these, and a third brake light with the motorcycle style pulse module on that 3rd stop light. ![]()

It's sort of funny that two 50+ yr. old engineer/science types are talking about their clear corners and mods on 20+ yr old diesel cars!
![]() My daughters' crowd (16 and 14) think they look good (at least that's what they say when they want a ride) and our friends (middle aged) always assume they are the European lights that go with the Euro headlights. I know some think that they're "ricer", but my cohorts don't.

So, the rear's would be a natural extension of that logic.........clear corners on all corners with clear reverse lenses. Anything looks better than the yellowed reverse lights..........and the replacements from the dealer are over $200. each. ![]() |

Those are nice, a lot better looking than the ugly yellow. Is there some in my future? I doubt it. I am not cheap i'm just frugal.

I highly suggest using the smoked version of these lights, the clear ones look a little too clear, a bit out of place on a Benz. Especially if its a darker color
with matching front blinkers these will look good on all colors, in my opinion, the clear ones will only look good on white, maybe a very light / bright silver, other than that, definitely go with the smoked. thats what I did on my w126. I'll try to get pics up soon. |

I keep thinking about getting the clear's for my car but am not sure. I am worried that they will look to ricey.
The smoked ones are nice but the car would have to be black with a dark tint to pull them off.

On my 86 300sdl, only the driver's side started to get darker. I took the entire lens apart and cleaned the lens, put it back together and it lasted about one year. I will have to do it again. I personally dislike the clear lens look on cars. I think Lexus made a big mistake when they put the clear lenses on their RX 330's.
On another note, it always bothered me how the rear of our cars seem under lit at night. I scrounged some parts from some old rear lights and put a socket in the fog light lens area. I placed the specific wattage bulb in their and now the rear lights were too bright. I then replaced those light bulbs with a wattage one half of the recommended fog light, and they look perfect!! I have two extra lights now as running lights in the rear. It really brightens up the rear end at night.
