617 Vs 603 injectors

are the injectors of the 617 and 603 (i think it is a 603 (inline 6 turbo with a cross flow heard on a 300D turbo)) the same?

i actually was at the puck-n-pull and saw a 603 with the engine intact so i started grabbing things people might need. i thought if the injectors were the same i would use them but since they are not i am going to let them go with the hardlines that i got too.

*edit*
I would like an extra set around but i don't know if i can swing the cost.

Definitely different, different part numbers as well.
Plus there are 6 of them in the 603, the 617 has only 5.

The threat is different: 60x are bolt directly into the prechamber, 617 are bolt into a nut that fixes the prechamber. For this reason the 60x injectors have the threat lower.
But the nozzles can be used, just take them out and put them into the 617 injector body.
They are different but will fit. Pop pressure and spray check needed. The hard lines are interchangeable after bending but does not give any change.

The nozzles are different and not interchangeable. The OM616/OM617 engines use the 240/ nozzles with a tiny hole in the tip of the pintle, whereas the OM603 engines use the 265 nozzles with elongated pintles and no holes.

DNOSD240/A and DNOSD261...

The OM617 uses two types of nozzles, Three if you include the G wagen 4X4 vehicle version....

The first and oldest is the DNOSD220, side-cut Pintle-nozzle...

Second and most popular is the DNOSD240/A central-hole nozzle...

G Wagen version uses the DNOSD261 Side-Cut Throttling-Pintle nozzle, Just like the OM-602 and OM-603 N/A engines....

The '261 is a great choice for the '617, as it adds just a little more low-end torque....

The DNOSD265 is a VW Polo/Golf/'Rabbit'?? Nozzle, not normally associated with M.B. in Europe anyway!

I believe the 220 nozzles have been superseded by the 240/ nozzles. I'm not familiar with the 261 nozzle, but the 265 nozzle is used in the OM603 turbo which you never got in Europe.

BTW does anyone know which nozzle type the OM606 engine uses? I had to order the whole injectors anyway because they don't sell the individual nozzles for this engine, but I wonder if they are the 265 type as well.

Ok, but here's a question, if the 265 nozzle will fit in a 617 injector, wouldn't it be advantageous to do this for more power?

I've been told the flow rate is different it may cause some problems. I once did this the other way, putting the 240/ nozzles in an OM603. The engine ran slightly quieter but it smoked more on acceleration.
