Cracked exhaust header on 240d
Hi all:
The more time I spend under the hood the more "challenges" I find with this car. This time it's a cracked exhaust header. Anyone have a parts car with a four-cylinder in it? Or would it be sufficient to polish it off & stick some J-B weld on there? Thanks; Steve A. |

I do not think jb weld would take that much heat. Muffler cement might but does not have good adhesion I believe.

Have you cleaned it off?
It doesn't look like a leak, (no soot around the crack?) |

Cracked header/ manifold
Hi there,
What year is your 240D? I just happen to have a good manifold off of a 77(no egr) that I would be willing to part with. I also have an 83 manifold with egr stuff. Make me an offer? Cheers, Chris |

going_postal : Good eyes! The crack must have just formed because there is no soot, but if I put a piece of paper over it there's definitely something coming out (although not much).
Chris : Please drop me an email at steveahlgren at gmail dot com regarding your old header. Mine's an '81 but if the header looks correct I'll happily take it off your hands. Many thanks! Steve A. |
