manual to automatic?
We just got a 1984 300d (european model/metric/duel climate control) and the shifter doesn't work right plus I don't want to drive a stick-is it plausable to convert to an automatic transmission without spending a whole lot of money? My husbands a real good mechanic but new to mercedes...
Anyone know? |

It would be very difficult. There is no way to mount the required vacuum control valve onto the injection pump on your model.
It's easier to convert from auto to manual because there are fewer controls and other parts. Going the other way around would be cheaper just to find a different 300D thats already automatic. |

If you are nearby to FLorida, I'll trade you a 300D automatic for a 300D euro stick.......

I've got the setup
I have a euro300d with automatic transmission. I am doing just the opposite of what you want to do. If you wish to trade parts let me know. It would go well as everything should swap out. I am in the middle of the process and if you let me know soon I will keep the parts. I have all the vacuum controls and the injection pump you would need.

Thanks for the info, sounds like a hassle.
We can't trade or sell right now, maybe in a year or so. As for parts I think it would be to difficult to convert. |
