I'm replacing crushed motor mounts in our '83 300 D. Is it standard operating procedure to change the two engine shocks when installing new motor mounts?

Might as well do them all
Greetings,
If both the motor mounts are toast and require replacement, might as well order the tranny isolation mount as well and do all three at the same time. Charles |

Thanks Charles & GA 123, for your help. One old mount was about 1/4" compressed the other had oil on it and had disintegrated. I picked up new mounts at our local MB dealer, but they didn't have the engine shocks on-hand. The engine shocks and tranny mount will have to wait till another weekend. In addition to the mounts I installed new Bilstein shocks all around. The old '83 300 D (338,000 mi) drives and rides like new!
Cheers, Robby |
