Cellphones don't work around here......
You folks who think that a cellphone is the answer to all emergency problems, well they don't work in this area.....unless you are on top of a hill....
I realize that this trip that we are discussing is going to be in the civilized parts of the Northeast corridor......just pointing out that it is best not to rely heavily on them..... And, just because I must have offended the Gods somewhere along the line, if I had a problem it would probably be out of any cellphone service area no matter where I go...... SB

Thanks for all the replies!
I have to smile a little as I read through all of them. I've made this trip SO many times, but always in my wife's 4-Runner. It's funny that bringing the ol' diesel up the road calls for so much prep. Better safe than sorry, right? In addition to my original checklist, I'll be adding these: jumper cables 5 gal can of diesel fuel extra fuel filters I already have my jack, anti gel, and tools in the car at all times, and I always carry my cell phone. And if the weather stays this cold, you can believe I'll be dressed warm and have extra warm clothes with me. Speaking of the cold, at 12*F this morning and single digits overnight, the old girl fired up first try this morning with no block heater or anything. Knightrider966- I'm afraid I wasn't born until 11 years after you left Mystic. Did you grow up there? Maybe you know my Dad.
