"83 300d Cabin Filter Replacement
Is there a cabin filter on the 83 300D's, if so how do I access this and replace. I have improved the interior smells by throwing out the hemp mats which held previous owners cigar odors, and have removed and scrubbed the leather, with great results.
I just have not explored the cabin filter, if it exists on this vehicle. Thanks, Gary

No cabin filter on the 123s. You may want to remove the HVAC blower and clean as much of the a/c evaporator as you can reach. After 20+ years they have a sizeable accumulation of smell-holding guck on them.

The car was a "Free" inheritance, which to date has cost me about $2,000, tires, batt, replm't fuel tank, strainer, filters, wiper blades, insurance, tags etc.etc. No regrets however. It is a great runner.
No Cuba destinations in its past. My FIL's vice was cigars and his safe haven was his car,in which his wife never rode. He lived to 90. so what the heck. Over all the smell has improved 300 % I am just getting the last of it out. Hey, I thought those mats were hemp, or some other natural fiber which held the smell. What do I know???

In addition to what has been said...
if you wanted to Make your own cabin filter.... all you need is something to hold activated charcoal in front of the intake vent... and you can get that cheap at pet departments for aquarium filters...it comes in a waxed milk carton quart container deal... cheap ..... and if you swallow some kinds of poisons you can ingest this on your way to the hospital... adsorbs a lot on interesting stuff....and has about a football field worth of surface area per teaspoon full.... |

Not sure the old ones were OEM, they may have been Jute as well. Either way they are gone. Never thought of washing, or having them cleaned. I still have the original floor carpets, and have covered them with after markets for the winter. I may cob something up for the air intake/ stand by medical kit on the way to having my stomach pumped.
Thanks all. I love your ingenuity there Leathermang....
