Whats the best location for a power lock acutator??
I have been working on installing a remote locking system on my car for about 5.5 hours now....I stopped for the night but want to finish it tomorrow..(its colllld out) I am stumped on finding a good spot/setup in the drivers door for the actuator/rod assembly. I have the brains all hooked up and the wiring done, I just need to finish the door setup. Anyone else done this before? Where did you put the actuator?
The system does work....it blinks my marker lights appropriately when I choose lock or unlock on the remote, and the actuator does its thing when connected to the leads I ran into the door....now I just need to mount it. I really want to get this done/setup. Help?

I mounted mine low (a few inches from the bottom) on the inside metal sheet of the door straight below the lock knob/post. I forget specifically how I attached it to the linkage, but I looped it through a hole so the actuator would directly move the main door lock knob. I let the stock vacuum system move the rest of the locks. My vacuum system holds power for about 5 minuets, that gives me time to get out, get what I need from the trunk and set the alarm/lock the doors.

Thanks, thats what I was figuring I'd have to do....I'll have to be creative with the linking-rod to make it connect properly...it will be much more pleasant to work in the daylight and when its above freezing.
I'm lucky mine is a 126 because when mine moves the lock it just powers up the central locking pump and they all open/close along with it.

Mines about two inches from the bottom; lower rear corner, right above hole for the door panel hook.. Took two tries (four holes ) to get it right.

I mounted mine exactly like Forced did, right up next to the rod for the original setup, I used a small piece of sheet metal between the rod joint for the original linkage, and the acutator...and it works great! Instant open and shut when I hit the buttons, and the rest of the locks follow in their normal vacuum-like fashion. All locks are open/shut within 3 seconds. I am all done now and its nice to see the interior in one piece again!
