#4 GP Any ideas on getting it out?
Yep, time to change the number 4 GP on my 300sd. Any ideas on getting it out without removing just about everything in the engine?

Removing everything? You can just slip your hands in there if you try or just remove the IP lines, that's simple to do.

There are a lot of places on our cars where removing/replacing parts almost requires a body built like a spider monkey. Unfortunately, I have forearms like Popeye. Toot-toot. I've just gotten used to visualizing where my hand needs to be based on the diagram/pic, then persistently ramming/wiggling/jamming/cursing/flexing/wriggling until I'm there. I worry about *disengaging* my arm after the fact.
One thing that helps me out in the engine bay is keeping a step-stool handy, so I can get the most advantageous angle of approach for getting into tight places. Good luck!

I got it with just a box wrench. It's pretty tight and you can only turn a little at a time (a combination ratchet wrench would work great) but it comes out if you're persistent. The only one I couldn't get was #5, I should have the right wrench now though to get the nut off.

I just took all 5 of mine out lastnight and just used a 13mm wrench. I t took a good bit of time but I got them out.

Took me maybe five minutes to pull the IP lines. Why make life harder?

Those brackets make it a bit harder to reinstall only to me.

i have big hands and big forearms. it was tough for me to get them out but i used a typical open ended/ box ended wrench took some time and forearms being all chewed up but it works.

youse guys whove read my opinion on this, I opologize... WHY did MB make those line brackets so sharp????? how much more would rounded corners have cost? I mean this car cost what 60K adjusted for inflation? 120K? 0.10$ brackets a little softer... oh wait, MB techs in the dealership would of course remove them for the additional .25 or .5 hours they can charge on the tune up. who knows why really. the thing is, they are pretty easy to remove and reinstall. when putting them back on, start the threads on each end on all the lines before tightening them up, tighten the IP end first, then bleed the injector lines free of air. pretty simple really.

I figured I was going to
have to pull the IP lines but I wasn't for sure if anyone can do it without pulling them. The PO put the gp wires on weird and I can't get a socket on the 8mm nut to get the gp wire off. I can get to the gp off if I can get smaller nut off.

also
i have huge hands so getting them in between the ip lines is pretty difficult. I can't get all of them changed except the 4th one. I thought about getting my daughter to try it out but she is only 6.
