$3700.00 for mine. Two months ago. Cali. car, rust free 297K. Drives nice. Needs alot of little stuff. I'm happy with it. Wagons are just hard to find in general that are in decent shape. I love the fact that you can do the work yuorself...

Pricing a TD

If this wagon has been maintained with an open checkbook (meaning they did whatever the dealer thought needed done) the mileage wouldnt bother me. The fact that its rust free is a huge factor when shopping for one. Provided everything works and there is proof of the maintenence, I would say its worth somewhere between $3000 to $5000 USD. Wouldnt hurt to have a certifeid mechanic look it over. If he finds any problems you can use this to try to lower the price.

It sounds like some US prices are kinda high...
I think prices for old Mercedes are priced particularly low in England. I watch eBay and am amazed at some of the low prices. Germany and The Netherlands seem to be closer to US prices.

April of 2005 I paid $2,200 for a slightly rusty 1985 with 319K. No service records, no AC, needs some bodywork and rusts repair, needed axles and brakes, no third seat, typical interior. It is running great and is my daily commute. Think I paid a little much considering the rust.

September of 2005 paid $2,600 for another 1985 with 190K. Bought from son of original owner and it has complete service records. Had a new engine and turbo at 78K. No rust, everything works except the locks and the antenna. Original metallic paint clearcoat is peeling on the roof and oxidized on the hood. No third seat. This is my wife's kidwagon and grocery getter. Found a third seat in a junkyard and installed it. Think I got a good deal on this one.

I paid 1800 for a 80 TD with frozen calipers and no AC ~230K. Now the seats need the pool noodle fix and I have a heating issue but thats about it. Had all service records at local MB indy who became a dealership. We still take the car there for alignments.

We would love to see pics of your wagon. We simply don't see any 240TD's on our side of the pond. Interior, exterior, engine compartment.......

I paid $2K for an 85 300TDT about 3 months ago. Engine and transmission are very strong, interior is good, body has some rust, but it still gets compliments. It definitely has the usual problem areas, but so far its been pretty good. Mostly just maintenance issues you would expect on a car this age. Good luck. I never thought I would have a wagon like this but I really like this car a lot.

Thanks for the info

I took a look at the wagon that I am thinking about buying today. It has been sitting for a year. It was his daughters car. She had it for 15 or more years. The local indy has been taking care of it, so I don't expect the engine to have too much problems with it. He said that last year he spent $600 getting new gp put it.....pencil style, don't know why he just didn't do it himself....anycase, he has to be a battery in it and he will let me drive it around on sunday or monday. I will be get under the car and check the usual stuff.
The inside looks like it needs a good cleaning as well as the outside. I didn't notice any rust yet, but I will be check under the carpets and such. The great thing is I can get this car under 1K... If it runs like it should, I might relist it on ebay...2k profit would fund my other projects nicely. If I do end up getting it I will post some pictures.
