Sure you can do that.
That is one vehicle that I would like to have that I have never even ridden in.

Thanks man. There ae a ton of them in Georgia. They are a tank to say the least. I only wish mine had the 617 rather than the m110 gasser.
Take care and keep up the good work, I have learned quite a bit from your pictorials ! Mike

Nice Job and photos!!
G'mornin',
Referring to the 4th photo.....did you folks get the liquid/water into the cylinder during disassembly? Perhaps a cracked liner, or blown head gasket caused that water to enter, and eventually cause the heavy scoring. Also I notice, unfortunately cannot touch, what looks like an injection impingement cavity on the piston crown. Reference first 3 photos....looks like a lot of sulphur deposits on the piston crowns. Reference 1st photo....noted injection spray pattern on piston crown. Reference 15th photo....is there any special signifigance to the missing bolt on the IP? Reference 21st photo....from here, it appears that #1 was the water problem and #3 was the actual oil pumper.... Reference 24th photo...again #1, looks well waterwashed to me....is this the cylinder with heavilly scored liner in 4th photo? From what I can see from here in WV, it looks as if that engine was severely overheated at some point.....could explain the chipped piston crowns. Also of note: I have never had the oil pan off of one of these engines....I find the swash plates (channels) that are cast into the oil pan to be interesting....I wonder why they are configured in that manner. Great photo essay!! SB

Sounds like conversion time to me. Is yours auto or manual? Of course the easiest way to go would be picking up a 617 with an auto tranny.

The water was from me spining the engine over on the stand. While it was running was normal operating temp with no hint of overheating.
