Zerex G05 Coolant is in stock at Pep Boys

it is almost 12.00/gallon though.
I bought 3 Gallons, as I am going to be changing my motormounts this weekend, and I figure I'll flush and fill my aging SD.
I am going to pull the motor/tranny out of my parts car (makes it easier to push around!) tomorrow night, and try to use the MM's from it if they are in good shape. I bought a new shock and one new MM, so we will see what is up.
I should be able to pull the M/T out, then swap out the MM's in what, about an hour? maybe two?
heh heh.:fork_off:
I will take pictures when I can. and leave a total work time when finished...
my 82 SD has started vibrating against the trans tunnel all the time now. so I figure it won't be long before something breaks if I don't fix it right.
John

At least they have it. Tried the local NAPA store today. Nothing sitting out in the store. Asked the guy behind the counter, says they have two gallons left. Brings out 2 jugs of the Zerex old-fashioned green crap.

Told him no, I need the Zerex G-05 in the gold jug. Guy flat out told me that the green stuff was the only type Zerex made, and the only type they carry! Even refused to see if he could order any, again telling me that Zerex didn't make that type of coolant.

Told him that's funny, NAPA website says they DO make it, and that YOU are supposed to carry it, but no problem, I'll just go to the Ford dealer a half-mile down the road and buy some Motorcraft Premium Gold. It's the same stuff, and probably cheaper than what you'd charge any way! Turned around and walked out.

Seems like the only requirement to work in an auto parts store these days is the ability to swipe a debit card.

Last time I was at one I needed to rent some A/C gauges... they ones they tried to rent me were pegged at 40psi/20psi with NO pressue LOL

I told the chick "ummmm... these gauges are broken..."

She basically replied "okay"

Well, the good thing is that you only need 2 Gallons. System capacity is a little less than 12 qts (11.6) and for a 45/44 mix all you need is a tad over 5 qts (5.22).

I went to my local NAPA

they had it also, at 10.99 gallon...
better, but still pricey!

There isn't the best selection of parts stores around here, only one small Napa, plus the dealer is over an hour away. I'd really like to use the right stuff but I just bought two jugs of Prestone and a rust-inhibiter/water pump lubricant. By the way, you guys should really try doing a citric acid flush. I went ahead and did one two weeks ago when my water pump seal went out and wow did I get a lot of crap out of there! Before I started, my block drain plug had a good amount of rust on the end. Now, its clean like new metal.
